  • His/her partner tallies the comments
  • Predictions, comments, relationships to your own

Questions
  • Frederick is living with his grandmother and
grandfather at the beginning of the text. Why is
he living with them and not with his parents?
Where are his parents in relation to where he is
    at?
  • What are the differences between a slave boys
childhood and that of the white children of the
    slaveholder? Why is this important?
  • How does Frederick feel about his mother?
  • How does his relationship with his mother change
after her death? Does he view her differently or
    the same? Why?

  • Format What product will best demonstrate your
understanding of the text? (I.e. letter, action
    plan, newspaper article, etc.)

time period, who is going to be the main focus,
what event is the centerpiece of the format you
have chosen (letter, action plan, newspaper
    article, etc.)?

13
