• Mask layout (devices, variants, and
  test-structures)
• Layout must enable multi-user collaboration
• Layout must be easily maintained during product
  life cycle
• Analysis (Analytic, numerical, and
  finite-element)
• Optimization based on multiple criteria
• Development of variants and test-structures for
  lab measurements of key parameters
• Measurement
• Comfortable with back-end processing, assembly,
  test-equipment, basic electronics, shop tooling
• Vibrometer, PSD, microscope, Zygo/Wyco, etc. used
  to measure performance between designs and across
  wafers and runs.
• Measured performance must feed back into improved
  models and revised device layout
