Title: Optical Measurements made by the Miller group
1Optical Measurements made by the Miller group
-depth profiles of downwelling irradiance (Ed)
from 305 - 700 nm -yields depth profiles of
PAR -surface measurements of downwelling
irradiance (Ed) from 325 - 700 nm measured every
10 seconds through each day -from which we can
calculate surface PAR -upwelling radiance (Lu)
from 305 - 700 nm -CDOM absorption spectra

11Summary of what we have (can provide)
- For a total of 22 stations over 19 days both in
and out of the patch - Profiles of
- Downwelling irradiance (Ed)
- Depth of photic zone, PAR profiles --interest for
those working on primary productivity? - rel. fluorescence, temperature, rel.
conductivity - Surface downwelling irradiance through out the
day - PAR, Primary productivity - deck incubations? ,
DMS models? - Discrete measurements of upwelling irradiance
- Important for ground truthing SeaWiFs
measurements
12Whats been done so farwhere to go from here
- Data thats been processed and is in good working
order - Ed profiles -Lu spectra
- PAR profiles -Kd spectra (optic depth)
- CDOM absorption spectra
- Data that needs a little TLC before its ready to
go - MVDS data scaled to modeled data
- Rel. fluorescence, rel conductivity and temp
plots from optics casts - Still to do
- Analyze DOC samples!!! --correlations between
DOC and optics? - Incorporate what we know about optics into
photochemical models (Bill)
