Causes of the Civil War

• The two main causes of the civil war were 1)
  slavery and 2) succession. A slave was a person
  held against their own will as the property of
  another person or household. Succession refers to
  the withdrawal from a State of the National
  Union.

Slavery

• As you can see only 25 of people in the South
  owned slaves. Most people who had slaves had
  more than one.

Other Causes

• Other causes were the Southerners developed bad
  feelings over the growth in economics of the
  North and the tariffs(taxes) on imports were
  still causing Southerners to buy most of the
  manufactured goods they needed from the North.

North

• Some Northerners hated the idea of slavery,
  but what they hated worse was the idea that the
  South wanted to separate from the Union, so they
  could create a new country where slavery was
  legal.

• The South was a region of farms and fields that
  needed slaves to work on them. That is the
  primary reason the South wanted slaves but the
  Union wouldnt allow it. So the South wanted to
  withdraw from the National Union and make their
  own country where slavery was legal.
