VIL India did some research and realized 89% of the total available water of around 890 cubic meter goes into agriculture, of the balance 11% goes to industry and drinking water needs are met. We need better supervision of water. The coverage of piped water, the metering of water and the adequate supply of 24 hours of pressurized water these are the three steps. So to bring first to the equitable water, we need to design the system, invest capital into the infrastructure and more importantly have budgets to maintain it what we have already built.

Waste water treatment is a process used to convert wastewater - which is water no longer needed or suitable for its most recent use - into an effluent that can be either returned to the water cycle with minimal environmental issues or reused. The latter is called water reclamation and implies avoidance of disposal by use of treated wastewater effluent for various purposes. Treatment means removing impurities from water being treated; and some methods of treatment are applicable to both water and wastewater. The physical infrastructure used for wastewater treatment is called a "wastewater treatment plant" The treatment of wastewater belongs to the overarching field of Public Works - Environmental, with the management of human waste, solid waste, sewage treatment, storm water (drainage) management, and water treatment.

We have moderated our water forecasts somewhat this quarter, as South Africa's water industry continues to remain comparatively strong, with a large amount of projects in the pipeline. However, we warn that the country has a danger of long-term water scarcity, due to its rapidly growing urban population and increasing water consumption figures, coinciding with a decrease in water extraction. The government aims to meet water targets in the short and long term, taking into account scarcity issues in resources. In the northern parts of the country, both surface water and groundwater resources are nearly fully developed and utilised. However, in the higher rainfall south eastern regions of the country, water infrastructure is undeveloped.
