Laura Motes grew up in Elberton, Georgia. She attended Georgia Southern University. In 1992, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management Information Systems. In 1993, she became the honor graduate at Military Police Office Basic Training. After her graduation, she immediately began to work with Athens-Clarke County Police Department. Having spent twenty-one years with the department, she is looking to help her community in a different capacity and is preparing herself for a career in nursing.
