On July 27, Commissioner Lucki sent out a Force-wide communication marking her first 100 days as Commissioner, committing to transparent, accountable leadership and information-sharing, and seeking ideas from members on how to modernize the RCMP. Her note indicated this information will be used as input to a five-year modernization plan for the RCMP.
The NPF successfully challenged three unfair labour practice complaints against the RCMP (Treasury Board) with the Federal Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board (FPSLREB) regarding breaches of the statutory freeze.
Just before Christmas, on December 22, the Globe & Mail’s Opinion Page ran a very negative story toward the RCMP, “What do Mounties have to do with Christmas?”, written by a freelance journalist, Carly Lewis.
The Mounted Police Professional Association of Canada (MPPAC) was formed to unify the existing regular and civilian members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police across the country as well as to protect and advance the interests of the organization's profession and membership.
