UN Geneva Plenary session
  • The Keynote Speech was delivered by video from H.
    E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, First Lady of Egypt and
Founder of the Womens International Peace
Movement. She opened her discourse by saying
that she chose to focus on the many positive
advances and expressed her gratitude to all
those women and men who have continued to raise
consciousness of the imperative of peace.

6
The Purpose of Womens Federation of World Peace
  • The aim of Womens Federation for World Peace
International is to realise a peaceful and
harmonious world. Todays problems cannot be
solved by the logic of politics alone, but
require as well the logic of reconciliation,
compassion, love, service and sacrifice on the
part of men and women working together. WFWPs
four major focuses are empowerment of women
world-wide the reinforcement of family values a
sound upbringing of children, and building
    partnerships for peace through restorative
    co-operation of women.

7
Who are we ?
We are women from all walks of life with the
common goal to bridge all differences of race,
nationality, religion, social background, culture
and education to obtain worldwide peace
8
Women and Peace
  • The feminine tries to find and unite the common
    factor in all ideas,
  • in the creative force,
  • through discovering
  • opportunities in resistance
  • and finding solutions
  • through combining
  • various ideologies and philosophies. Which point
of view provides the better way to research,
    create and realize the
  • possibilities of peace?
  • Who would be better to
  • achieve peace and to educate
  • the next generation
  • to live in peace?
  • Chris Griscom

10
Bridges of Peace, a new way to heal the wounds
of abuse, misunderstandings, intolerance,
prejudices and war.
  • Peace and reconciliation are anchored in the
hearts of people through friendship and
    partnership.

11
  • When participants in a Bridge of Peace Ceremony
embrace at the centre of the bridge a new
    partnership begins. Whether they are
representatives of previous regimes and cultures
which are in conflict with each other, whether
there are current disputes between races and
classes or whether it is simply current
relationships between friends and family members,
this simple act seals the personal dedication to
each other and the tasks of development and
    comprehension what lies ahead.
  • The cycle of resentment and violence can be
stopped if representatives of earlier criminals
and victims representing those who are doing the
repenting and those who are doing the forgiving
embrace in the middle of the bridge.

Dignity of Women
  • With confidence that we, as women, have very
special value, unique abilities, and distinct
gifts which our society needs, we can work to
realize peace in the world by making a
contribution to the development of our own
    society.
  • Therefore, we can no longer tolerate that our
dignity as women continues to be abused and
ignored by the reduction of women to her sexual
parts or by acquiescence to unjust laws, sexist
    advertising, films, and publications.
  • We must return to the moral and original
standard, in which sexuality is the expression of
a deep love between husband and wife.
  • If we continue to subject ourselves and our
children to the ideal as defined by the fashion
industry, and beauty as defined in advertising,
then we will lose all reference to those values
which give meaning and fulfilment to our lives.

with the suffering people in North Korea. Not
only food but also clothes, paper, pencils, toys
for nurseries and kindergartens are necessary. In
