• I have been at Terrill for 19 years
• I am dual certified to teach French and Spanish
• I graduated from Douglass College in ????
• I have a B.A. in French and Spanish
• I have two Masters degrees in Education and
  Technology
• I love teaching Middle School!

At Terrill

• I teach 5th through 8th grade French
• I am co-advisor of the PALS club

What will students be learning?

• Talk about places in town, directions on how to
  get there and activities to do there (building
  project)
• Talk about what they will be doing (future tense)
• Talk about clothes they wear, shopping in a
  store, buying clothes, asking for opinion and
  comparing clothes.

What will students be learning?

• Talk about food!! (Our favorite topic!)
• Talk about what we eat at each meal and when
• Compare French eating habits to our own.
• Talk about shopping in a market
• Compare units of measure used in Europe and in
  USA
• Create a cooking show (Save the best project for
  last!!)

How do students learn?

• Communicative (lots of talking!)
• Cooperative learning (partners and group work)
• Mini projects (theme based)
• Technology (Power Point, Wordle, Podcasts, Skype,
  Pages, iMovie, Comic Life)

• Listening (tapes and movies of native speakers)
• Writing (answering questions, short essays, pen
  pal letters, dictée)
• Games.jeopardy, battleship, tic tac toe and
  family feud to name a few.
• Props.you name it, we have it!

How do I grade?

• Everything is based on a point system
• Categories are broken down into tests, quizzes,
  projects, homework and class participation
• The more challenging the work, the higher the
  point value

Homework

• Check devoir board every day
• Check my website Teacher Pages on the Terrill
  website, posted every day
• Only time they can reinforce their writing
• Late or missing assignments can be made up for
  half credit

Classwork/participation

• Learning is oral based so very important
• To encourage participation, students have
  participation sheets that get stamped when they
  contribute during certain times in class.
• Students love getting stamped and this adds to
  their participation grade.
• Activities such as conducting surveys, playing
  out skits and singing songs make learning
  interesting and fun!

Peer tutoring

• French honor students from the High School come
  one day a week to help with homework and studying
  for a quiz or test.
• I have had this program for four yearsvery
  successful!
• They are all my former French students from
  Terrill.very proud! -)

National French Week

• To celebrate, Bonjour Montclair, a café in
  Montclair will set up a crepe stand and show
  students how to make crepes and of course eat
  one!!
• Miam! Miam! (Yum! Yum!)
• This is our eighth year with Bonjour Montclair.
• Date Tuesday, Nov 3rd

Class Trip!! Youpi!

• 8th grade takes a trip to a French Restaurant as
  part of the cultural experience when they are
  learning about French Food, traditions and
  customs.
• Restaurant Madeleines Petit Paris in Northvale,
  NJ

French Pen Pals

• We will continue our correspondence with the
  middle school in Montpellier, France. This is our
  third year.
• We will send letters, videos and connect through
  ePals.
• Students will make a global connection with these
  students
• Children in both countries extremely excited to
  make new friends!!
