Main Motion

• The way to get business accomplished
• Nothing is determined unless a motion is passed
• Main motions require a second and discussion
  prior to voting
• I MOVE THAT

Amendment

• Can amend a motion by 3 ways
• Add to motion
• Delete parts of a motion
• Completely change a motion
• Amendments require seconds, and discussion prior
  to voting

Point of Order

• Used when you think the chair or someone else is
  not following Roberts Rules of Order
• Be polite but assertive when the error occurs
• I call a Point of Order
• Does not require a second

Division of the House

• Must be called immediately after a voice vote
• I call for a Division of the House
• Does not require a second
• Anyone can call for this rule
• This requires the Chair/President to take a count
  vote of the motion/amendment

Call for the Question

• Formal and informal ways to stop discussion
• Formal
• I call for the previous question
• Requires a second and 2/3 majority
• Informal

Table a Motion

• Used when more information needs to be gathered
  or people need to think about an important
  decision
• I move we table this motion
• Requires a Second and a 2/3 majority
• To discuss the topic again a motion of I move we
  take from the table must be made with a second a
  2/3 majority
