Fungi Are Cool
This Presentation Is About Them
Enjoy
By Corey, Davis, And Nate
2
The Structure of Fungi
All fungi are eukaryotic All fungi have cell
walls Fungi range in size from microscopic one
cell organisms to multi-cellular organisms that
can be up to 25 cm in diameter This page done
by Nate not the great, but really really good
guy Greenberg

Major Phyla Species
  • Oomycotes (OOO-me-coats)
  • Water molds, white rust and mildews
  • Zygomycotes (Zy-gooogly-coats)
  • Bread molds and conjugation fungi
  • Ascomycotes
  • Sac fungi and bakers yeast
  • Basidiomycotes
  • Club fungi and wheat rust
  • This page done by Davis fungi-champ Rosborough

4
Fungi Lovin
  • Fungi can reproduce asexually or sexually
  • Sexual Reproduction
  • By Spores
  • Asexual Reproduction
  • By fragmentation Breaking down
  • Refer to role-play
  • This page done masterfully by Corey Funguy
    looking for a fungirl Smith

5
Feeding/ Obtaining Energy
  • Some fungi are saprobic
  • They feed off of other dead things
  • Some fungi are parasitic
  • Lives in or on a host organisms and does harm
    to their host
  • Rots away other host organisms
  • Two examples of parasitic fungi are ringworm and
athletes feet (hey, it can happen on both feet)
  • This page was done by a collaboration of Corey
doesn't have notes Smith and Davis doesnt
know what parasitic means Rosborough, because
Nate I dont have to go to school on Friday
    Greenberg wasnt there.

Summary of the Fungi-licious Project
  • Fungi are eukaryotic and have cell walls
  • There are four major groups of Fungi
  • Oomycotes, Zygomycotes, Ascomycotes and
    Basidiomycotes
  • Can reproduce sexually and asexually
  • Fungi are Parasitic and Saprobic

And most importantly

Thank you and good night

Teacher Notes
Additional structure notes
Multicellular Fungi create branching filaments
Called hyphae. Holes in the cell walls between
cells are called septa.
Additional feeding notes
Fungi are absorptive heterotrophs. They secrete
enzymes onto their food source to digest their
food outside their cells before absorbing them.
