    more confident by playing a social situation as
    if you were an actor
  • playing out a role.

  • Start small (remember baby steps in the goal
    setting lesson). Begin with small situations and
    work up to more difficult ones.
  • Prepare yourself write out a brief script and
    rehearse it at home, look in a mirror and listen
    to your voice. (this is what actors do to prepare
    for a role)

  • A good way to get used to saying hello to people
    is by practicing. Here are some ways you can
    greet new people.
  • Hello or Hi
  • Hows it going?
  • Good to see you.
  • Have a nice day.
  • Gestures ( a nod, a smile, a wave)

  • Try to meet new people.
  • Start a conversation wherever you go.
  • (while standing in line at the movies,
  • at an amusement park, at a sporting
  • event.

  • Here are some ideas for starting a conversation
    with someone you dont know like at a party or
    dance.
  • Pick someone who looks like they would be easy to
    talk to they are smiling at you, sitting alone
    or just walking around.

  • Introduce yourself - hello or hiand start
    talking about where you go to school, where you
    live, what you enjoy doing.
  • Give a compliment, then ask a question.
  • You were really good in the talent show. Do
    you take lessons?

  4. Let the other person know you are interested.
  5. Be happy and up.

  • The ending should be as smooth as possible.
  • Dont cut the person, try to find a natural way
    to end.

    towards the exit, shake hands, etc.
  • 4. Be sure the person understands you are ending
    the conversation.
  • 5. You can say I enjoyed the conversation. or
    I hope we meet again soon.
