Title: Pre-Ejaculation

1
Pre-Ejaculation
  • Whats the purpose of pre-ejaculatory fluid?
  • If contraceptives are not used, can a woman
    become pregnant from pre-ejaculatory fluid?
  • If a man has a vasectomy, can they still
ejaculate? If so, what makes up the ejaculate?

2
Male Reproduction System
  • Function to produce a sperm cell
  • Male reproduction cell
  • Sperm cell unites with a female egg (ovum) to
    form a fertilized ovum
  • Production starts at puberty (ages 12-15)
  • Testosterone causes the testes to produce sperm
  • Spermatogenesis produce sperm for the rest of
    his life

3
External Male Reproduction Organs
  • Testes male sex glands, manufacture the male
sex hormone testosterone and produce male
    reproduction cell sperm
  • Scrotum sac that hold the testes.

4
Testes
  • Seminiferous tubules sperm is produced in this
    section of the testes
  • 500 million each day
  • Epididymis stores newly produced sperm
  • 64 days for sperm to fully mature

5
Penis
  • Tubelike organ that functions in sexual
reproduction, sexual pleasure and elimination of
    body wastes.
  • Erections blood fills three cylinders which
    surround the urethra
  • Ejaculation release of reproduction fluids
  • Penis size varies from male to male

6
Circumcision
  • Fold of skin that covers the end of the penis
    (born with)
  • Surgical removal of the foreskin

7
Internal Male Reproductive Organs
  • Vas Deferens a long tube that connects the
    epididymis with the urethra
  • Seminal Vesicles Two little pouches just above
and either side of the prostate gland, they
secrete a fluid that mixes with sperm- the fluid
travels down the ejaculatory duct to mix with the
    sperm
  • Prostate Gland below the bladder and surrounds
the urethra, secretes a milky and alkaline fluid
that mixes with sperm (size of a chestnut)
  • Cowpers Gland glands that open into the
urethra, secrete a clear and sticky fluid that
will cleanse the urethra of acid from urine
  • Urethra tubelike organ that travels through the
penis and leads to the ejaculatory ducts, passage
    way for sperm and urine
  • Semen mixture of fluids from the seminal
vesicles, prostate gland and Cowpers gland

8
Concerns about the Male Reproduction System
  • Nocturnal Emissions
  • Hernia pushing of a part of the body through
the muscle wall that normally contains it
  • Inguinal hernia weak spot in the abdominal wall
near the top of the scrotum. Part of the
    intestine may push through

9
Concerns
  • Sterility weak or malfunctioning sperm
  • Temperature changes
  • Certain chemicals
  • Smoking
  • Contracting mumps as an adult
  • Untreated STDs
  • Faulty operation of epididymis, vas deferens, or
    urethra

10
Concerns
  • Testicular Cancer
  • 1 of all cancer
  • 15-34 years of age

11
Concerns
  • Prostate
  • Cancer
  • Prostate gets bigger and blocks the urethra or
    bladder
  • 2nd most common type of cancer in men
