• 5 permanent veto seats.
• All five have to agree to make international laws
• If there are 49 agreements but 1 of the 5 vetoes,
  the law is struck down.

  this point.

The Truman Doctrine and containment

• Truman stated that the USA will assist any
  country trying to resist attempted subjugation.
• Truman vows to engage in a policy of
  Containment stating that the USA will not
  sacrifice 1 inch of land to the communist
  agressors.
• The US practices this policy through the end of
  the cold war.

The first signs of a problem

  communist party battle for power of the country.
• Britain informs the USA that they do not have the
  resources to support Greece.
• The USA exercises the Truman doctrine and
  containment for the 1st time by funding the
  democratic government.
• Democracy wins, but it is costly..

  Russia rejects the Marshall plan deciding instead
  to engage in communism.
• Marshall plan economic redevelopment plan for
  Europe.
• Approx. 30 billion is infused to modernize and
  make the economies of Europe more efficient.
