1. THE RENTENMARK
  • To STOP Hyperinflation Stresemann introduced a
    New Currency
  • THE RENTENMARK
  • This stopped Hyperinflation and stabilised the
    economy
  • HOWEVER peoples savings had been ruined.

2. THE DAWES PLAN 1924
  • Stresemann did not want Hyperinflation. They
    wanted a solution to Reparations.
  • The Dawes plan was set up
  • This gave Germany longer to pay Reparations
  • It allowed American loans for Germany to build up
    industry and pay reparations

  • Germanys reparations are reduced to ¾ of the
    original
  • Loans continued from the US
  • Reparations were spread out over a longer period

Stresemann knew Germany had to regain her place
again in the world. He set about trying to make
Germany accepted again

1. LOCARNO TREATIES 1926
  • Agreement with Britain and France
  • It promised NOT to invade each other to
    cooperate.
  • It promised to recognise the borders after
    Versailles.

2. GERMANY JOINS LEAGUE OF NATIONS. 1926
  • This was like the United Nations now.
  • Germanys acceptance showed a new willingness to
    accept her again into the international
    community.

3.KELLOGG- BRIAND PACT 1928
  • An agreement signed by 64 countries agreeing
    never to go to war
  • Germanys acceptance made her look again like a
    world power
