A note from Mrs. Estrada . . .
Reminder Early Release 10/31 at 11 30 a.m.






Principals Book Club
2nd 9 weeks Units of Study
Just a reminder that this year we will continue
with the principals book club award. Students
will have the opportunity to receive an end of
the year award for completing at least 25 book
summaries. I have modeled what a basic summary
should look like. Every Wednesday your child will
be assigned a book summary for homework. They may
use their library books. Please look over your
childs work and encourage him/her to complete
additional summaries. Thank you!!
Language Arts phonics word knowledge comprehen
sion skills (inferencing, fiction vs.
non-fiction, authors purpose, making
connections, and summarizing) fluency writing
process, spelling and vocabulary(prefixes and
suffixes) Math money (counting a collection of
coins) 2 digit add/subt. with regrouping Data
Representations Geometry (2d and 3d) Science
Magnetism Natural resources weather and
seasons Social Studies critical thinking
skills Remembering heroes identify major
landforms map skills/continents and oceans use of
natural resources









Parent Conferences

Monday, October 22, 2012 500-700 p.m. I will
be meeting with parents to discuss your childs
report card, and any concerns or questions you
may have. This will be on a first come, first
serve basis. If you are unable to attend please
contact me to re-schedule at your convenience.









Red Ribbon Week
Oct. 28-Nov. 2

• A flyer of various activities will be sent home.

Just a reminder that Invention Project is due on
Friday, October 19. Looking forward to seeing
your brilliant creations!!


Halloween
This is not an allowable treat day, however
costumes will be allowed most likely during Red
Ribbon Week (be on the lookout for school
calendar) Join us for our fall festival coming
soon! Candy donations for our 2nd grade booths
will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
