  • Brief History
  • The department of Library was started in the year
    1961 with 800 books and 5 periodicals, and a
    Lecturer was kept in charge of the library.
    Later six qualified librarians have served and
    retired in this department. At present there are
    56323 Under Graduate documents and 1687 Post
    Graduate Books 350 CDs/DVDs and 31 periodicals
    with one qualified librarian, three record
    assistants, and two attenders are serving the
    students as well as faculty. The library is
    centrally located in the college in order to
    provide easy access to the Users.

AIMS OBJECTIVES
  • To provide Books, Journals and Information
    services to the students and staff members.
  • To pursue knowledge coupled with skills by
    reading Books Journals.
  • To develop personality, character and
    self-discipline by providing with good books and
    periodicals.
  • To inculcate research aptitude and to cultivate
    scientific outlook

BUILTUP AREA OF THE DEPARTMENT 350 Squire
Meters.
  • Book section 276 sq. meters. Consisting of
    Arts, Commerce, Sciences, Languages and reference
    books with Reading Tables and Chairs.
  • Periodical section 74 sq. meters. Consisting of
    News papers, Magazines, Journals Year wise
    bound University old question papers with Reading
    Tables and chairs accommodating 40 persons at a
    time.

LIBRARY ACCESSIBILITY
  • OPEN ACCESS SYSTEM is being followed. Books are
    kept on open shelves. This makes possible for a
    reader to approach the needed book directly and
    handle personally without barrier. A user can
    browse amongst the world of books in the Open
    access system. Readers have better chances of
    choosing the right book than merely consulting a
    catalogue.

CATALOGUING
  • OPAC On Line Public Access Catalogue is made
    available to the users. It is user friendly
    and enables the user to search the bibliographic
    details with ease and speed. It allows searching
    by Author Title, Subject, Call number, Keywords
    and Boolean search, besides in case of power
    failure we are also maintaining card catalogue
    cabinet for the benefit of library

LIBRARY SERVICES
  • Information Service The library is offering the
    information service to the users using the
    printed and electronic resources and equipment
    Access of E-Journals is also available to users
    through the U.G.C. INFLIBNET center.
  • Internet facility The library is offering
    Internet browsing facility for E Learning and
    for referring free E- Journals to the users.
  • Current awareness services Latest information or
    published literature on particular subject of
    internet is provided for the library users.
    Latest issues of periodicals are kept for the
    reference purpose. Costly and important articles
    from journals are downloaded through internet and
    kept for the use of our readers.
  • Reprographic Services Copies of the books which
    can not be lent out, articles from the
    periodicals and information down loaded from the
    internet are supplied to the needed users through
    Xerox copies.
  • Reference services Library is helping the users
    in finding simple facts like whether a particular
    book, CD/DVD, information is available or not in
    this library.

LIBRARY SERVICES
  • Career guidance Career Guidance service is also
    provided in the library for our students as well
    as other students who are approaching our library
    through News Paper Clippings, Internet
    downloading and displaying the same on the Notice
    Boards.
  • Library Automation The Library is partially
    Automated. LAN limited area net work is created
    among all the departments of the college. One
    can know the information regarding the collection
    of library books and journals from any corner of
    the college. SOUL Software for University
    libraries developed by INFNET Center is
    installed. Six computer systems are installed
    for Server client set up. Desk Top Ink Jet
    Printer and Dot Matrix Printer are provided for
    giving printouts, of the information needed by
    the students. Internet with Broadband connection
    is kept for library users.
  • Databases of library books, periodicals students
    and staff are created and updated on regular
    basis.
  • Books are circulated through computers based on
    the SOUL software.

EQUIPMENT FURNITURE
  • There are sufficient Book stacks, Reading Tables,
    Chairs, Lights, Fans and Exhaust Fans in the book
    section as well as in the periodical section for
    comfortable sitting and Reading. Six computers
    are available with LAN connectivity for providing
    Library Automation services (with SOUL operation)
    and for Internet facility for E-learning to the
    Users

  • The department has downloaded the SV University
    UG / PG syllabus for the academic use of students
    faculty. The department has bound the
    University old question papers and kept in the
    library for the academic benefit of students
    faculty.

  • Sri P. Ravi Librarian has attended a UGC granted
    32nd Orientation course conducted at UGC
    Administrative staff college in JNTU Hyderabad
    from 18-3-2013 to 18-04-2013.

  • The Library Advisory Committee is constituted
    comprising the Head of the Institution as Chair
    Person, librarian as Convener, six senior faculty
    members as members and two student
    representatives. The Library Advisory Committee
    is an advisory body and approves the budget
    allocation for the purchase of books and journals
    for various departments, it places purchase
    orders after obtaining price quotations and after
    the approval of comparative statement by the
    principal.
  • The Library follows the Open Access System to all
    students and faculty.
  • All books in the library were classified and
    catalogued.
  • The library is partially automated With SOUL
    Software designed by INFLIBNET and supplied by
    the CCE.AP.Hyd.
  • During 2010-2014 a sum of Rs. 8,25,229/- was
    spent towards purchase of text books, reference
    books, journals / periodicals and books useful to
    the students for appearing for academic and
    competitive examinations.
