  • Gender is assigned to all nouns in Spanish

  • Words that are femeninas are easily identified by
the last letter of A. These words are preceded by
    the definite article LA (the)
  • A word is considered either masculina or femenina
by its last letter and this has NOTHING to do
with the person who has the item!
  • Some words that end in a conosonante can be
either masculina or femenina.they must be
    memorized.
  • Some words are RULE BREAKERS and are the opposite
género of what you may think
  • Example.La mano.La comunidad (all dad words
are femenina)el problema (all mawords are

El plural
  • Making words plural in español is very easy.
    Simply follow these rules
  • If the noun ends in a VOWEL, simply add S
  • If the noun ends in a CONSONANT, simply add ES.
  • Sometimes there is an additional spelling change
that has to happen before you add the S or ES,
    but well learn those separately
  • When making a noun plural, you must also make the
definite article that precedes it plural.
Therefore EL changes to LOS, and LA changes to
    LAS.

    last year.
  • El padre.la madre.los padres
