5What is being done?
Drink Safe Technology has invented small cards
and test strips to test your drink no matter
where you are.
There are more harsh consequences for date rape
drugs used that render the victim unconscious and
limit memory
Self defense courses for women
In Australia there is a campaign called Drug
Rape-Watch yourself, watch your friends.
Information is being posted in multiple public
locations to help potential victims.
6Characteristics of a Victim
14 of all victims are between the ages of 18 and
24
12-18 year olds represent the largest group of
victims at 33
In 77 of cases a personal weapon was used
(hands, feet, or fists)
More than 86 of victims are females
No weapons was noted in 14 of assaults
The residence of the victim as the most commonly
noted location of the sexual assault (70).
Other common locations included schools,
hotel/motels, fields, woods, parking lots,
roadways, and commercial/office buildings.

50 75 of all reported rapes are caused by date
and acquaintance rapes
1 in 4 college women have been raped
90 of college rape survivors knew the attacker
before the rape
1 in 15 college men admitted to forcing a woman
to have sex

Date rape is the most common form of rape
One in Four girls are expected to be a victim of
rape or attempted rape before 25
People who fight off a rapist are more likely to
stop the rape
Three out of five rapes occur before a woman
reaches 18
9So during this presentation more than two women
were sexually assaulted
Every two minutes a women is sexually assaulted
