Washington is the capital of the United States of
America.
It is located between the states of Virginia and
Maryland on the Potomac River.

Washington was named after the first US President
George Washington. He selected the place
for the capital and Pierre L'Enfant a French
engineer designed the city.

Washington was first settled in 1790 and since
1800 it has been the federal capital.

Washington is one of the most beautiful and
unusual cities in the U.S.
One of the reasons that Washington is different
from other cities, is that there are no buildings
higher than 40 meters. There are no skyscrapers,
because they would hide the citys monuments from
view.

One of the most famous parks in Washington is The
Cherry Garden.
There are some important museum in Washington,
which tells the story of Washington.
