  • 3,887 individuals participated in the Congress
  • 148 individuals registered as representing NGOs
  • 1,140 individuals registered as individual
    experts many of them also represented a variety
    of NGOs.
  • 36 NGOs were officially represented at the
    Congress
  • 132 nations participated
  • 13 UN Institutes participated
  • 25 Intergovernmental organizations (in addition
    to 5 Specialized, i.e. World Bank, IMF, etc.)

The Ancillary Meeting Process
  • Two volunteer rapporteurs attend each ancillary
    meeting
  • Make sure the panel and participants have all
    they require in terms of equipment and support
  • Count the audience and note any issues
  • Obtain copies of all papers and visuals (panel
    members are informed in advance of this)
  • Take notes of the session formal presentations
  • Take notes of the audience discussion

As soon as the Ancillary Meeting ends
  • Rapporteurs go to Ancillary Meeting Room Office
    (working under supervision of UN-qualified
    editor)
  • Prior to the next morning prepare a summary
    report of the session (see copies of reports)
  • Session chair has until noon the next day to
    review the session report and offer corrections
  • Report is completed and with copies of relevant
    visuals and papers placed in an electronic file
    which delegates can request

    Commission

    all presentations, PowerPoints and visuals to
    distribute to delegates at the final session of
    the Congress
