A possible accreditation process for
sub-speciality (Head and Neck training) units

Introduction

• The UEMS-ORL Section and Board has developed a
  European training programme for Head and Neck
  Surgery.
• The training programme is based on the accepted
  UEMS-ORL training programme in Otorhinolaryngology
  -Head and Neck Surgery
• The subspeciality training programme has been
  accepted by all UEMS member states.
• The training should serve as a guideline for
  approved training centers to enable head and neck
  fellows to meet the European standard

The Training Center

• Each year there will be advertised on the UEMS
  ENT section web page for suitable training
  centres to apply for accreditation.
• Each centre will apply by written application,
  which will be reviewed by the accreditation
  board.
• Each centre will be approved by site visitation.
• Approval of the training centre would be
  renewable every 5 years

• The trainee or fellow
• The programme director
• The programme -Academic
• -Clinical
• -Evaluation
• Content of the logbook

Evaluation

• Programme director must secure the competence of
  the fellow.
• The trainee must document his or her progress by
  keeping the UEMS log book of head and neck
  surgery subspeciality training.
• Faculty evaluation on annual basis.
• Programme evaluation.
• Examination, National or European.
• Goal Graduate of European training in
  otorhinolaryngology head and neck surgery
• (ETORL-HNS)
