Milan (Italian) Coat of Arms
  • Sun and moon comes from the symbol of the
    Mirasole Abbey.
  • Coat of Arms includes St. Georges cross
    symbolizing resistance to foreign invasions.
  • Blue represents a hope for a European Union.

Vatican City (Papal) Coat of Arms
  • The symbol of papal authority are the tiara, the
    keys of St. Peter "to bind and to unloose.
  • One key in gold and the other in silver, crossed
    and bound with a red cord, are located directly
    behind the Pontiffs personal coat of arms.

  • Gold and Red represented the Kingdoms of the two
    Sicilies.

Shield Must Include
  • Your family name must be added to the top or
    bottom of the shield or a motto that represents
    your family.
  • A symbol or the colors from your ancestral
    country.

Shield May Include
  • A religious insignia. (sign)
  • A symbol of your medieval trade.
  • A symbol of an important animal.
  • Other important symbols or signs.

Paper part 1
  • Write a 1 page min. 3 page max. paper. Font 12.
    Times New Roman (Double Spaced).
  • You must tell me which shield style you chose?
  • Which design did you choose, to divide your
    shield?
  • Explain to me where your family name descends
    from?

  • Explain each of the symbols on your shield and
    their significance?
  • What do the major colors on your shield
    represent?
  • If you used a motto on your shield, explain why
    you chose that motto.

Important
  • Your Shield Must be Colored.
  • Shields that arent colored will receive a 15
    point reduction.
  • Students whose shields are displayed will receive
    5 extra credit points to add to an assignment of
    their choice in the 3rd quarter.
  • Your shield must be on a piece of Oak Tag (Poster
    Board), to be considered for display.

Reminder
  • Late projects and papers receive a 10 point
    penalty.
  • Any project or paper submitted after March 2nd
    will not be accepted.
