- 1 in 12 reported that their disability began
before the age of 17 - between 14 and 17 reported that their
disability began in the different age groups
between 18-64

- Just under half of people reported that their
disability was caused by a disease or illness, - 1 in 5 reported an accident, injury or fall
- Arthritis was the most commonly cited illness at
34 - Just over two-thirds used at least one aid
- Pain management -most frequently used aid at 48
- The majority of those reporting the higher levels
of severity of difficulty due to pain also
reported that their disability was present most
or all of the time

severity - One in five people had been affected since
childhood and almost one in ten had their
disability from birth
