Workforce Investment Act

• Purpose Provide workforce investment activities
  that increase the employment, retention, and
  earnings of participants
• Sec. 123 Youth Program. Local board shall
  identify eligible providers of youth activities
  by awarding grants or contracts on a competitive
  basis based on the recommendations of the youth
  council

• Provide academic and employment activities
• Ongoing mentoring of youth by adults
• Training opportunities

• Supportive services
• Incentives to youth for recognition and
  achievement
• Opportunities for youth in leadership,
  development, decision-making, citizenship, and

Youth RFP Highlights

• Comprehensive services
• Single county program ok except for Jefferson
• Funding is estimated, no actual amount available
• Due April 16 at Noon
• Eligible youth only
• 10 required elements
• 5,000 per participant maximum

  eligible youth, planned performance,
  administrative capacity, and insurance/bonding.
• Logical application
• Adequacy of assessment, counseling, s.s.
• Integration of program into overall service plan
• Effectiveness of Plan
• Agency has demonstrated experience
• Cost/Price Reasonableness
