2- Bennett Academy conducted a survey of graduating
- students from the class of 1997 through the class
- of 2005. The sample includes all of the
graduated - students that the researcher was able to
contact. - The number of students contacted amounts to
- approximately 15 of total Bennett graduates.

3Overwhelmingly positive responses
- 82 of the students reported that Bennett Academy
prepared them for high school. - 60 felt the transition from middle school to
high school was easy. - 93 of the students said they would definitely
do it again. (Attend Bennett Academy.)
4The students were asked if they were involved in
extra-curricular activities in high school and
college. Following is a list of some of the
activities named
- Football, baseball, cross-country
- Volunteer work at a homeless shelter
- Robotics Club
- Photography
- DECA
5Students were asked if they continued their
communication training (i.e. art, drama, speech,
foreign language, debate, photography, student
government/leadership). They responded that they
had participated in the following activities
- Art
- Dance or Cheer
- Foreign Language
- Spanish
- Latin
- Theater
6 Students listed some of the greatest benefits of
attending Bennett Academy as follows
- Personal relationships with friends and teachers
- Smaller classes and personable teachers
- Close bond with teachers, one-on-one attention
- More attention, made me participate, good friends
- Relationship with teachers who made me feel
special
7 When asked what their current post-high school
plans were students answered as follows
- Southwest Bible College then seminary to become a
pastor - Working then college, drama major, teacher
- Working in the semiconductor industry due to BA
in electronics engineering - Finish college and then mission field
- In college - going for PhD to work with abused
children
8 Students listed these disadvantages to attending
Bennett Academy
- Going from a small school to a big school was
hard - Demerits, too strict, no talking in class
- Limited learning, no advanced classes, no foreign
languages, limited sports - Lack of extra-curricular activities
- Didn't know anyone at the new school
9Students were asked if they had the same
opportunity to attend Bennett Academy again,
would they still have attended?
- Yes, good memories, like a family
- Yes, enjoyed having friendly teachers
- Yes, teachers, knew strengths and weaknesses,
taught at
your pace - Yes, small, liked the feeling
- Yes, good school and good friends
10Students were asked to consider their education
experiences to date, and to comment on what part
Bennett Academy played in helping them get to
where they are today
- More responsible for homework
- Helped through HS, relearning stuff I learned at
Bennett - Helped with communication skills through speech
class and small classes - Be more creative-got to put on shows, hands on
experience acting. More freedom to learn - Got me thinking
11Parents were asked to survey their child's
education experiences at Bennett Academy and to
comment on what part Bennett Academy played in
helping their child get to where he/she is today
- Helped with focus, great school
- Good choice of schools - helped prepare for HS
- Liked the higher standards
- I enjoyed the smaller class sizes and individual
attention given to the students. The staff was
vary accessible professional to deal with - School was wonderful, helped him so much

13Previous survey corroborated
- The same survey was conducted in 2002 with
different students. The results were nearly the
same. - To date, approximately 1/3 of the graduates of
Bennett Academy have been surveyed, with results
overwhelmingly in favor of the schools ability
to prepare its graduates for success in high
school. - The survey results corroborate anecdotal
experience. Bennett Academy graduates come by the
school frequently to tell us how they are doing.
14Who are our graduates?
- R.A.Valedictorian of her class, she returned
once a week during her freshman year to help in a
classroom. - D.S.currently doing the same.
15More students
- B.R. is attending Georgetown University.
- Several students mentioned missions, service work
and social work, currently and in their futures. - T.B. plans to go to college and had not planned
to until attending Bennett Academy.
16More students
- S.S.severely learning disabled, now attending
Metro-Tech in training to be a chef. - Several students preparing to become teachers.
- And, Mrs. Wyatt, graduate of NAU and currently
our science teacher at Bennett Academy!
17More graduates
- Two of our graduates have children attending
kindergarten in our sister school, Venture
Academy.
18We are proud of our grads
- We cannot think of nor have we heard of a single
student who is not doing well. - No ones in jail that we know of!
- They are all wonderful people who have enriched
our lives and now our community.
