Congratulations to our new 2008-09 PTA Officers
who were elected at the April PTA
meeting President Kim Benjamin Vice President
Cheryl Dinkins-Cornell Secretary Phyllis
Hendricks Treasurer David Wills Thanks to the
nominating committee, Brigitte Killings, Phyllis
Hendricks and Cherillyn Woods, for working to
present a slate.

• Re-Enrollment for 2008-09 ended on April 14th for
  current students. Calls will begin to be made
  from the Wait List. If you have not paid your
  re-enrollment for next year, please stop by the
  office immediately in order to hold a spot for
  your child(ren).
• Summer Camp 2008 enrollment deadline is May 1st
  for existing students. The Academy will open up
  for new summer students at this time. Camp begins
  June 1st and ends on August 1st. The hours of
  Summer Camp are 7am to 6pm. The Advisory Board
  chair has stated that the Academy will work with
  parents who need to have until 630pm to pick up
  their child(ren). Please submit an inquiry to the
  Parent Liaision expressing this concern. Details
  of the arrangements are pending the number of
  children that will be at the school after 6pm.

Ben Hill Academy Schedule Starting in the Fall
2008, the Academy will open at 700 am And close
at it's normal time of 630pm. Please make note
of the suspension of the Early Care schedule of
630am due to low attendance.

• Scholastic Book Fair May 4th May 9th
• Muffins with Moms Friday, May 9th
• Kindergarten Graduation Saturday, May 24th 11AM

The Scholastic Book Fair is Coming The Fair
will take place May 4th thru May 9th. Volunteers
are needed to assist with setup and teardown. In
addition the Fair will be open on Wednesday, May
6th during the church Bible study night.
Volunteers are also needed to work that evening.
Please contact Constance Randall or Cynthia Ashe
from the PIC committee for more information.

• Keeping Kids Healthy
• The PTA body voted to organize a a Nutrition
  Committee for the upcoming school year. This
  committee will assist with weekly menu selection
  and make recommendations for food items as
  regulated by the Bright from the Start program.

Kindergarten graduation is May 24th at 11am in
the church sanctuary. All participants should
wear light blue and white.

Tuition Waiver Vouchers to be used August 2008
May 2009 Everyone should have received the
letter from Mrs Logan regarding the Tuition
Waiver. Vouchers will be distributed for every
child starting in August. This will be your
ticket for getting the Free Week tuition. If you
lose the voucher it cannot be replaced with a new
one.

The May Book of the Month will be sponsored by
The I Can Be Anything Foundation. The selected
book, The Archer and the Sun, by Rob Cleveland,
will be presented on May 9th at 300 pm.
Parent Action Forum
Applause Please For the Pre-K and Kindergarten
Career Week presenters and Committee members,
Yvonnia Henderson, Donna Jones, Tangela Hendrix
and Seressa Allen. Presenters included a
Fireman, Baker, Motivational Speaker, Delta
Flight Attendant and Marta Policeman. Academy
Administrator Job Posted An Ad has been placed in
the Atlanta Journal Constitution and HotJobs.com
in search of our new Administrator. If you know
of anyone that is qualified and interested in the
position, please contact Board Chair Tonya
Wilkerson Bennett. Fall Fundraiser Last
Call Some parents may have received a Hot Pink
Reminder Notice in their cubbie. The Fundraising
Committee is still actively working to recover
coupons /funds from those that have not honored
their commitment from last Fall. Thank you to
those that have responded. Please contact
Brendalynne Duncan or Seressa Allen to respond.
The Parent Action Forum is designed to share
issues and concerns that parents have recently
brought to the attention of the Parent Liaison to
the Academy Board. Progress with resolving each
issue is noted. Issue/ConcernI was just
wondering how we will be updated on the status of
our account now that we are no longer using the
computer system?  Also, it seems we are no longer
receiving receipts either for payments by
mail. Resolution Student Account Receipts
will be provided weekly to all students. If you
are ever in question about your balance, please
contact the Academy office. Issue/Concern
Concern about the recent menu modifications that
have been made which include milk once a day and
water/juice for breakfast. Snacks are full of
sugar. Resolution The menu selections is being
addresses and modifications are being made. In
addition, the Academy Nutrition Committee, which
will assist in creating the Academys weekly
menu, was formed.
Cant find that memo??? Mrs Logan has a Master
Folder of all memos and correspondence she has
sent to parents on file in the office. Parents
are welcome to stop by to view and/or make a copy
of memos. Whats your E-mail Address? The PTA
is working to assure we utilize technology to
disseminate information to parents.  If you have
