Introduction
  • English immigrants came to Canada in three
    different periods
  • They came when the territory was claimed by
    France1630-1760
  • When the territory was claimed by Great
    Britain1760-1867
  • Finally during the years of Canadian Nation
    Hood1867-present

First Period
  • The first English immigrants were explorers,
    traders, and adventurers.
  • They all came in search of the North west passage
    and hoped to find trade goods and export markets.
  • They started to settled on the coast of
    Newfoundland and then in the U.S.
  • They settled in Roanoke Island, North Carolina,
    James townVirginia, and in Massachusetts bay.

Second Period
  • The next English immigrants to come to Canada
    were soldiers, retired officers, gentry, and
    displaced English workers.
  • After the soldiers duty was completed they
    married and stayed in Canada, and retired
    officers had no choice but to settle in Canada.
  • The English workers came because they were being
    replaced by machinery so they needed to find jobs
  • In this period they settled in Nova Scotia, St.
    John River Valley of New Brunswick, in Quebec,
    and near Niagara.

Third Period
  • In this last period men, woman, and children
    settled in Canada.
  • Single men, single woman, and even children came
    to Canada looking for jobs.
  • Some also came because they married the soldiers
    and followed them to Canada.

Conclusion
  • In conclusion many English immigrants came to
    Canada in different time periods.
  • They went through tough times, like when the
    English man was despised.
  • They also went through good times, like when they
    finally got to claim land.
