Run6 pp_at_62 GeV

• BRAHMS strongly favor Plan A (current schedule)
• PHYSICS priorities set by PAC It is important
  to complete the 2-3 week 62 GeV p-p running, both
  for heavy ion comparison and equally important
  the single spin asymmetries AN at lower energy.
  BRAHMS should definitely run during this time
• ONLY CHANCE (last run for BRAHMS) to measure
  identified charged particle spectra at forward
  rapidities
• at 62 GeV reference spectra and pQCD studies
• STRONG Theoretical interest Flavor-dependent
  Single Spin Asymmetries at high-xF at 62 GeV
• Any significant loss of beam time due to summer
  weather
• or unexpected machine issues will NOT be
  recovered if the
• run is scheduled at the end of the run (plan B).

Scheduling Issues

• Collaboration has planned for Plan A
• People already changed their schedules to
  accommodate Plan A (June 6-) from the original
  run plan (May 26-)
• Significant contribution (detector experts and
• shift crews) to Run6 from European
  collaborations
• Extra scheduling and financial hardship with Plan
  B traveling, housing, rental cars
