Resume or Curriculum Vitae?
  • A RESUME is a short document that summarizes your
    qualifications including education, experience,
    skills, and other items related to your job
    search objective.
  • A CURRICULUM VITAE (CV) is a special type of
    resume traditionally used within the academic
    community featuring
  • Earned degrees
  • Experience in teaching, research and service
  • Publications
  • Presentations
  • Related Activities

CVs the Global Job Search
  • In America, CVs are only used for academic and
    specialized research positions.
  • In other parts of the world, CVs are really what
    Americans call a resume.
  • Resumes/CVs in other countries have a very
    different format than the standard format we use
    in the USA.
  • Check goinglobal.com, a subscription service that
    you can access for free from the CRC website, and
    the CRC international web pages for more
    information on country-specific resumes/CVs.

Example Teaching Philosophy
  • It is often said that the best way to learn
    material is to teach it. If this is true, then
    the best teacher is the one who makes the
    students teach what they are learning. This is my
    philosophy of teaching. There are many ways of
    implementing this idea, and I have applied
    several of them in my classes.

  • At the core, I begin with the assumption that
    each person is a unique, creative, and capable
    lifelong learner. My passion is to create a
    learning community in which each of us are
    teacher-learners, empowered to stretch beyond our
    assumptions, nurtured in curiosity to gain
    knowledge and understanding, and inspired to
    translate that understanding towards endeavors
    that change our lives and the world. My
    commitment is to continue learning as a
    professor, seeking more effective means to honor
    diverse learning styles, grow as a mentor and
    advocate for students, and link students
    lifelong learning experiences with their roles as
    members of the global community.
