Recognition

• Kuspuk was recently chosen as having one of the
  best Service-Learning Programs in the State by
  the National Youth Leadership Council.
• The Service Learning Project done by George
  Morgan Sr. High Students last school year will be
  featured in the Annual Publication of the NYLC,
  which features only one Service Learning Project
  from each state!

Literacy PRograms Update

• Schools are continuing to use the Accelerated
  Reader program for the 2nd year in a row In the
  first semester students in the district read (and
  passed quizzes) for nearly 3000 books!

• A State Librarian visited Kuspuk Schools, and
  helped with weeding, and organization of our
  libraries. She also left suggestions on how to
  improve each library.

• Early Literacy New materials were purchased for
  all primary classrooms, including digital
  cameras, microphones, new books and books on
  tape. We are currently looking into purchasing
  additional materials to support Early Literacy
  Needs

Battle of the Books

• Teams participating from almost every school site
  in the district
• Students have been reading Battle Books Since
  mid-October
• Practice Battles were held via VTC in
  November/December

• One team from each level (3-4, 5-6, 7-8, and High
  School) will represent Kuspuk at the State Level.
• High School -- Feb. 18th
• 7-8 -- Feb. 19th
• 5-6 -- Feb. 20th
• 3-4 -- Feb. 21st
