Overview of CSIS0413
  • COURSE OBJECTIVES
  • To learn how theories in computer science and
    information technology can be applied in various
    different industries and businesses
  • To facilitate and consolidate knowledge and
    skills learnt through seminar presentations and
    class discussions

Seminar Schedule
  • Each guest seminar will last for 45-60 minutes,
    with 15 minutes for students to ask questions
    about the topic presented by guest speaker.

Coursework
  • NO Examination.
  • 100 coursework Pass / Fail
  • Class participation
  • Attendance of both guest seminars and student
    seminars
  • Active participation in class discussions
  • NOTE Students are expected to attend ALL the
    seminars. Prior approval must be sought from
    course tutor if you cannot attend the seminar.
  • Student Seminar presentation
  • Written assignment
  • Each student is required to submit a reflection
    essay on one of topics given by guest speakers or
    from your student seminar presentation.
  • Length of words is between 800-1,000 words, to be
    handed in 2 weeks after the course is completed.

STUDENT SEMINARS
  • Each group of students will be responsible for
    presenting one of the suggested topics. The
    presenting students should prepare a handout of
    the presentation for the class and lead a
    discussion on the topic presented.
  • The presentation is expected to include
  • 30 min presentation of the selected topic
  • 20 min for class discussion
  • 10 min to summarize class discussion

    work life
  • analysis and critique of some theoretical
    concepts that are detached from your personal and
    work experience

  • A thoughtful analysis and synthesis of ideas
    drawn from both theoretical concepts and your
    personal work experience

    as a Computer Scientist with concrete and
