3- Theses
- For a search catalogue on in situ data (cwr and
on-farm) - we need multicrop passport descriptors
- Characterisation and evaluation is most often
done ex situ, - therefore the linkage from in situ data to ex
situ data - and vice versa is important
- The data structure for the exchange of
- ex situ and in situ multicrop passport
descriptors - is the same for a large extent.
4User needs
For use and conservation of PGR knowledge about
the species and the site is relevant - but data
about the site is often missing

5Why does the site matter? - genetic variability
reflects adaptations of germplasm to
environment - abiotic, biotic and anthropogenic
elements of the site influence the pattern of
genetic diversity in space and
time environmental conditions of collecting
sites are of high interest for
- characterization of gene bank material
(retro-classification of accessions) - planning
of new collection missions - conservation
strategies

- Geographical Information Systems (GIS) -
GeoDataInfrastructure (SDI) can be used - to
improve existing passport data (map
