- Sport Administration Classes
- AS KINE 2380 3.0 Introduction to Sport
Administration - This course is designed to introduce students to
the knowledge and skills - needed to be successful in sport management.
Topics include leadership - styles, communication and change management
skills, creative problem - solving and an introduction to event management
and marketing. Three lecture - hours per week. One term.
- AS KINE 3240 3.0 Behaviourial Approach to the
Administration of Fitness and Sport - The focus of this course is on working with
people. Students learn the theory and practice of
team building, - communication and counselling skills. Three
lecture hours per week. One term - AS KINE 3490 3.0 Politics and Policy in the
Sport Industry - Discussions about power, politics and ethics as
they relate to current sport policy issues are
explored. Policy - development and policy analysis skills are
learned and applied to issues in professional
sport, amateur sport and - university athletics. Three lecture hours per
week. One term.

- AS KINE 3510 3.0 Sport Marketing and Event
Management - The purpose of this course is to provide students
with both the theory and practical skills
required to organize and - manage events. Additionally, students have the
opportunity to learn from professionals working
in this field. Three - lecture hours per week. One term
- AS KINE 4430 3.0 Business Skills for Sport and
Fitness Professionals - This course includes theory and detailed
practical instruction about key
management/organizational processes and their - successful application to sport and
fitness-related business initiatives. Three
lecture hours per week. One term. - Prerequisite Students must be in the Sport
Administration Certificate or the Fitness
Assessment and Exercise - Counselling Certificate or have permission of the
instructor. - AS KINE 4530 3.0 Sport Administration Field
Work  - Students spend a minimum of 40 hours working in
an administrative setting related directly to the
area of sport - administration. The practical experience is
supported by lectures, seminars, reports and
readings. Three hours per - week. One term. Prerequisites Students must be
in the Sport Administration Certificate. - AS SC KINE 4545 6.0 Sport Administration
Applied Research Perspectives - This course provides students with an overview of
selected current issues facing organizations in
the sport industry as - well as a grounding in social research methods.
Students conduct applied research addressing
problems faced by sport

(YUSAA)
- Once accepted into the Sport Administration
Certificate Program one automatically becomes a
member of YUSAA - Members are required to participate in all YUSAA
activities and fulfill 30 hours of volunteer work
per semester. It is this volunteer work that
gives our students the incredible amount of
experience in and exposure to the field

communication services for various organizations.

- YUSAAs very own two-day event targeting
post-secondary students from Ontario-wide sport
management programs -
- This event, run by an appointed student team,
includes extremely valuable experiences such as
speakers and sponsor solicitation, marketing and
communications with all sport management programs
province-wide and delegate registration

- A one-day event targeted to secondary school
students located at the ACC consisting of a panel
of professionals in the sport management - Our services include assistance with the event
day execution, marketing and sales to secondary
schools, management of registration, and
volunteer/recruitment management
15Tait McKenzie Womens Volleyball Classic
- Once a year, YUSAA, the York University Womens
Varsity Volleyball Team and Sport York partner up
to run this exciting weekend event that attracts
varsity teams from all over Canada - YUSAAs services include event day tournament
facility management, hospitality for teams
officials, all on-campus marketing promotions,
sponsorship solicitation and volunteer
recruitment/management

- Charlton Research Inc. is an exclusive
contract for YUSAA - YUSAA members are in charge of compiling
research data for a client at MLSE games
including the Toronto Raptors, Toronto Maple
Leafs, and Toronto Marlies

- Honda Pro Am Presented by the Canadian
Snowboarding Federation - YUSAA students aided in the event execution of
the event. On- sight signage, media relations,
event - operations and other tasks as assigned by the CSF
team were carried out by the YUSAA staff over the - 3 day event held at Mount St. Lois Moonstone.
