I have been recognized by the NC Associated
Press with an Honorable Mention as Rookie of the
Year in TV Journalism. I was part of the team
that was awarded an Edward R. Murrow for
continuous coverage of Hurricane Floyd and the
floods that followed. I recently published my
first book, Images of America, Stokes County, in
an effort of preserving local and regional
vintage photographs that celebrate the history
of my childhood home. I am an Adjunct Professor
of Journalism at Winston-Salem State University.

- After spending five years writing for two
business magazines in Philadelphia, I am now a
legal editor with LexisNexis Legal News, in King
of Prussia, Pa., for its lexis.com site. I write
news stories, covering all verdict and settlement
cases coming out of California. I am in my fifth
year volunteering with the Philadelphia chapter
of United Cerebral Palsy, and recently found the
chapter's Young Leadership Committee, which
focuses on fundraising efforts.

also completing the Master of Arts in Liberal
Studies program at Duke.

- Olivia is employed with the North Carolina
Department of Commerce, and she manages the
Appalachian Regional Commission Program for the
state. As ARC Program Manager, Olivia is
responsible for administering a grant program in
29 western counties that assist the region in
achieving socioeconomic parity with the nation.
Olivia earned a BA in Communication in 2002 and a
Master of Public Administration in 2004 from East
Carolina University.

sports director for KPVI-TV since January of
1996, anchoring the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. sports
MondayFriday. Ive also been the radio voice
for Idaho State University the past three
seasons, calling both football and basketball for
the Bengals.

Where are they now?
Heather Quast Class of 2004 BA in Public
Relations I am the Catering Director and Special
Events Coordinator for Capital One. I manage all
catering, restaurant, cafe, and event services
ranging from planning to setup and execution.
Every day is different from running day to day
operations with the restaurant or cafe or
planning daily events such as a gourmet
breakfast, specialty lunch, reception, or any
other executive event that is requested. There
are typically 5 to 15 catering events a day
ranging from 10 to 1000 associates attending. I
also manage all business aspects such as HR,
Payroll, AR/AP, scheduling, safety and so on. I
stay busy but still manage to have a great time
with my wonderful family and new friends in
Richmond Special thanks to all of my professors
who have taught me more than I could ever know
and to Dr. Larry Auld for steering me in the
right direction.

Carrie Banks Class of 91 BA in Journalism  I
received my MA in Public Relations and
Advertising from The University of Alabama in
1992. I presently serve as the Communications
Director for the Alabama League of Municipalities
where I am responsible for marketing and public
relations as well as the content, layout and
design of all published materials. Update August
2007 Ive just celebrated my 10th anniversary
with the Alabama League of Municipalities.

broadcasting career started at WZMB, the ECU
campus radio station. Â

Chris Loga PR with psychology minor,
1999 After a short stint in the corporate
world, I realized that I prefer the non-profit
sector. Since 2000, I have been working as a
fundraiser/event planner for a 1,200-resident
retirement community in Atlanta. I am looking to
form a branch of ECU grads down here, I still
miss LaVista and the tailgate. I am able to make
it up occasionally, so if you are going to a
game, give me a shout! Â

Arts Speech, 1990 Upon graduating from ECU in
1990, I went to work for American Airlines and
Sabre Travel Network. I am currently living in
Keller, Texas and recently left Sabre Travel
Network after 15 years and went to work for
Atlanta-based company Worldspan, L.P. as a
Training Consultant. I'm married to a wonderful
woman, Kristi, and we have a fantastic son named
Benjamin. Â

2004 Started out reporting for WITN-TV in
Greenville in 2005, have since been promoted to
the Jacksonville Bureau chief with same station

Political Science, 2004 I am graduating law
school from UNC-Chapel Hill in May 2007. I will
take the Georgia Bar Exam in July 2007 and begin
work in Atlanta at Jones Day, a large
international corporate law firm, in September
2007. Thanks to all my wonderful ECU Professors
I haven't forgotten you and I appreciate you all

back to the Asheville area in August '05 and was
hired to teach business at North Buncombe High
School in August '06. I'm also the NBHS swim team
coach and currently working on my MAT through ECU
online. I married Jeremy Ballard, ECU MBA
graduate class of 2005, on July 7, 2007. Â

ECU and represent the university to prospective

and student life. My job responsibilities also
include planning and organizing Multicultural
Family Day for the University every spring. I am
currently in graduate school in East Carolinas
Counselor Education program, concentrating in

offering creative services, advertising and
public relations to middle-market companies
throughout the Southeast and with international
ties. Lori is on the board of directors for the
Greater Raleigh Merchants Association and is a
member of Raleigh Professional Womens
