• This is a journey about Tears, Pain and Courage
  .You will take a "walk in the moccasins" of
• the Original Settlers.

• Each student will be able to
• Describe the "Trail of Tears,
• Recognize the different Indian tribes that
  were on the Trail of Tears,
• Understand what the Trail of Tears meant to
  Native Americans,
• Learn about diseases that occurred on the
  Trail of Tears,
• Recognize cities and states on the Trail of
  Tears

• Many Indians survived the Trail of Tears but
  found it hard to trust the Euro-American.
• They were true warriors.

• Some of the Indians did live to see a ripe old
  age. Many were bitter from the Trail of Tears.
• It was Indian custom to pass stories of folk lore
  to preserve traditions.

• Indians used their resources such as the buffalo
  as the means for survival for their ways of
  living in their noble land.

• It was a long journey and many struggled to make
  it to their destination, the Indian reservations.
  Many died from diseases including pneumonia and
  many other horrible infections.
