- Masters degree in peace studies, conflict
resolution, international relations or related
areas - Professional development certificate in peace
and conflict studies - 7 centers at 8 universities worldwide
- Up to 110 Peace Fellows selected each year
3THE PROGRAM Two Options
Professional Development Certificate One center,
one university Three month course Two sessions
per year from January-April June-August Up to
25 fellows in each session, up to 50 per year Two
to three weeks of field study incorporated into
curriculum Strengthening the leaders of today
Masters Degree Six centers, seven
universities 16 to 24 month course Study
timelines differ according to each universitys

- Classroom coursework custom curriculum taught
by experts from around the world (short-term) or
existing university courses (masters) - Field experience field studies (short-term) or
practical internship (masters Applied Field

biannual at the end of each session (short-term)
5THE PROGRAM Objectives
- Support and advance research, teaching,
publication, and practical field experience on
issues of peace, goodwill, causes of conflict,
and world understanding - Inspire people to work for a culture of peace
and tolerance while enhancing their capacity,
knowledge, and skill to do so, in part by
generating interaction between practitioners and
academics - Provide advanced education opportunities for
Rotary World Peace Fellows in the area of peace
and conflict resolution - Provide a means for The Rotary Foundation and
Rotarians to increase their effectiveness in
promoting greater tolerance and cooperation among
peoples, leading to world understanding and peace
6FUNDING
- Districts worldwide contribute DDF to a pool of
funds supporting the fellowships - Individual Rotarians generously support
fellowships through - Endowed Gifts (Gifts or commitments of US500,000
or more) - Named Gifts (Gifts or commitments of US60,000)
- Rotary Centers Major Gift Initiative Trustee
approved initiative to raise US95 million by
2015 to permanently endow the program

Club endorsed applications sent to Rotary
districts
District endorsed applications sent to The Rotary
Foundation for processing
Fellows selected in a world-competitive selection
process by the selection committee

- Application deadline for all fellowships 1 July
- Results Announced November
- Note Applications submitted each 1 July are for
the upcoming year masters degree fellowships and
upcoming January and June professional
development certificate fellowships
