Attendance
  • Attendance at every lab is MANDATORY.
  • There are NO MAKE-UP LABS in summer school.
  • Be on time! gt5min late, cannot perform
    experiment!
  • Missed lab zero for that experiment
  • gt3 absences F for course

Laboratory Notebook
  • A link to requirements for each experiment can be
    found on the CHML211 website.
  • Review Appendix C for formatting example.
  • Pre-lab notebook requirements will be graded
    BEFORE lab begins.
  • Yellow copies are to be turned in along with the
    final lab report for grading.

Lab Reports
  • Located in lab manual.
  • Due at beginning of lab period following
    experiment, unless otherwise noted by instructor.
  • Late lab reports penalized 5 per day. Once
    graded, no other lab reports accepted!
  • No copying! Lab partners are expected to have
    the same results, but not the same answers
    (verbatim) to questions! This is a violation to
    the Academic Honor code, and will be dealt with
    accordingly.

Technique
  • An easy 6 of grade, but can change grade by a
    letter grade, so be aware!
  • Grade based on
  • Attendance
  • Dress code (NO SANDALS)
  • Goggles (bring your own to avoid penalty!)
  • Preparedness (prelab must be completed in lab
    notebook!)
  • Attitude (stay positive, no matter how
    frustrated!)
  • Participation (both lab partners must perform
    experiment!)
  • Drawer cleanliness (all glassware must be cleaned
    with soap, water, and wash acetone. Drawer must
    be organized before leaving!)
  • On time materials

Lab Safety
  • Know location of fire extinguisher, eyewash
    stations, and safety shower. You never know when
    you might need them!
  • Review ORGANIC CHEMISTRY LABORATORY SAFETY
    handout.
  • Read and sign the ORGANIC CHEMISTRY SAFETY
    CONTRACT (CHML211) before leaving lab!
