2OBJECTIVES
- To perform testing and establish documentation on
performance of last generation tin-free
anti-fouling paint systems, based on test patches
on ship in normal operation. - Ship owners to participate by offering test ships
and arrange for test areas. - Major suppliers of anti-fouling paint systems to
participate with their last generation tin-free
products, designed for the actual ship and trade. - The composition of test ships to be sufficiently
broad to reflect operational conditions for the
world fleet both regarding trades, trading
waters, speed, activity levels, docking intervals
etc, also most demanding operational conditions
for anti-fouling systems to be covered.

5TEST AREAS AND LOCATION
- All test areas are located mid-ship, and
preferably at the same side of the ship - For ships with single side loading arrangement
test areas should be on the side facing the sea. - Vertically test areas should go from deep load
line to the bilge keel - Horizontal width of each test area should not be
less than 3 m.
6SURFACE PREPARATION OF THREE CATHEGORIES
- TBT based anti-fouling to be applied on top of
old intact TBT based anti-fouling. Paint
suppliers are offered test areas for their TBT
free products. - TBT-free anti-fouling to be applied on top of old
intact TBT-based paint, eventually with sealer.
One paint supplier will be main, other suppliers
are offered test areas for their TBT-free
products. - Full sand blasting of hull, full anti-corrosive
and TBT-free anti-fouling to be applied,
conditions as for new ships. One paint supplier
will be main, other suppliers are offered test
areas for their TBT-free products.

- Preliminary Report, covering mainly preliminary
results from short docking intervals is planned
