Background
  • MARINTEK (USA) Inc. was established as a
Marketing office in 1999 and has remained so
until 2005. At which time the extensive level of
activity lead to the decision to change the mode
of operation to expand our services to offer high
level consulting services locally. The first
local employees were hired in 2005 and
subsequently we have added several new faces.
With the continuing growth in the market we
intend to expand further to meet those needs.

Areas of Expertise
  • Hydrodynamics We offer a complete range of
services related to ringing, springing, green
seas, sloshing, sea-keeping, positioning and VIV,
and effects of these phenomena on structures. We
also offer services related to extreme loads and
    model and simulate marine operations.
  • Structural Engineering We offer most types of
structural analysis of marine systems. Our tools
have been developed with the aim of providing
designers an engineers with reliable results for
    all load conditions.
  • Operations Technology Operations and
    maintenance philosophies, subsequent strategy
    development, and the development and
implementation of related methods and tools are
part of MARINTEK services that are now being made
available to clients in the USA.

6
Our Tools
  • BFLEX Program for calculation of stress and
displacement, fatigue and wear analysis of wall
components of flexible pipes subjected to
bending, torsion, tension and internal and
    external pressure. Detailed cross-sectional
analysis of tensile and pressure armour (Zeta,
    Theta, C-clip profiles).
  • UFLEX Program for calculation of stresses in
    complex umbilicals cross-sections subjected to
bending, torsion, tension, internal and external
    pressure and external contact forces.

7
  • SIMLA Newly developed computer tool for analysis
of offshore pipelines in deep waters and rough
    environments. Currently available functionality
includes pipe laying an inspection of free spans.
This toll was developed to ensure feasibility of
    Ormen Lange field development.
  • SIMO This software package was developed for
non-linear motions and station keeping analysis
of multi-body systems. SIMO is used for
simulations of complex marine operations such as
    installations of platforms and subsea
    installations, heavy lifts, tandem lifts,
off-loading, up-ending and various types of
mooring analysis, to mention just a few of the
application areas. SIMO is also part of SESAM.

8
  • MIMOSA Program fro analyzing vessel mooring
systems. MIMOSA offers a variety of options such
as calculation of vessels wave frequency and low
frequency motions and mooring ling tensions. It
satisfies the requirements of the Norwegian
Maritime Directorate and the American Petroleum
Institute. MIMOSA is also a part of the SESAM
    package.

9
  • MOPSIM This real-time simulator for complex
marine operations is based on RIFLEX and SIMO.
  • SIMVIS This is a program for visualization of
complex marine operations analyzed by SIMO.
Areas of application include the detection of
modeling errors, planning of marine operations,
HAZOP of marine operations and documentation of
    proposed operations.
