    to all MP students.
  • February - CMS Planning Guides and registration
    materials delivered to middle schools.
  • February - Scheduled meetings with counselors to
    discuss and return completed registration cards.
  • March/April - Registration cards from 8th graders
    will be collected by MPHS counselors.
  • March- Non-CMS registration in MP Art Gallery

What is a 4 x 4 schedule?
  • Students will have 4 classes that meet every day
    per term. Each class will be 90 minutes.
    Beginning in January, they will have 4 new
    classes.
  • What is a Hybrid schedule?
  • Students in specific course(s) that are only
    offered on the A/B schedule will have a
    combination schedule.

  • Factors to be considered for level placement
  • Students motivation and willingness to be
    engaged in the learning process by doing the work
    requested.
  • Homework and projects completed on time
  • Organization skills
  • Current grades in the courses in question and

  • Level and amount of extra curricular activities
  • Students health and any learning disability

  • Adheres to the North Carolina Standard Course of
    Study (NCSCS)
  • Provides the student with a basic understanding
    of the curriculum content
  • Students receive some remedial review of material
    presented
  • Suggested for students scoring 1 or 2 on 8th
    grade EOGs
  • No additional quality points

Honors (9-12) and IBMYP (9 10) Level Coursework
  • Moves beyond the NCSCS by adding several
    additional areas of study
  • Requires students to do much outside reading and
    many projects beyond the normal classroom
    requirements
  • Students should be independent learners and
    highly motivated to learn rather than simply to
    achieve a grade

  • Geared towards students making a high 3 or 4 on
    8th grade EOGs or high school EOCs.
  • Earns 1 additional quality point

  • Provides opportunity to pursue a rigorous liberal

  • Students sit for external exams in 6 academic

  • IB differs from AP in that IB is a complete

    class your want to take during your senior year.
    Work backwards from senior year to develop your
    math plan.
