What is he?

• Astronomer and mathematician, whose synthesis of
  the geocentric theory that the earth is the
  center of the universe.He is also remembered for
  his contributions of mathematics, optics, and
  geography.

What did he invent?

• Ptolemy did not invent the geocentric system of
  the solar system. He lived during the second
  century AD. His book the Almagest was the guide
  for astronomy for about 1200 years.

• Ptolemy made his observations in Alexandria.
  Although he discovered the irregularity in the
  moon's motion, known as evection.

  and design.The key underlying principle in the
  project is the use of well-defined models of
  computation that govern the interaction between
  components.

Ptolemy

• We get a few clues about him from his name,
  Claudius Ptolemy, which is a mixture of the Greek
  Egyptian 'Ptolemy' and the Roman 'Claudius'. This
  seems to indicate that he was descended from a
  Greek family living in Egypt and that he was also
  a citizen of Rome.
