Prince Talleyrand-Perigord, Charles Maurice de
  • Born in Paris on February 2, 1754
  • He was a statesman and diplomat who flourished
    through the French Revolution and the Napoleonic
    Wars
  • Had clubfoot from either accident or birth
  • In 1789 he was named bishop of Autun
  • Talleyrand server as the French ambassador to
    Great Britain from 1832 to 1834
  • He also took part in the negotiations that in
    1839 led to the general recognition of the
    independent kingdom of Belgium
  • After the overthrow of the French monarchy in
    September 1789, Talleyrand returned to England as
    a private citizen
  • Prince Talleyrand died on May 17, 1838 in Paris,
    France

  • He supported restoring the thrones of Sardinia,
    and Naples.
  • Thought Pope Pius the VII should be restored to
    the Papal States
