independent kingdom of Belgium - After the overthrow of the French monarchy in
September 1789, Talleyrand returned to England as
a private citizen - Prince Talleyrand died on May 17, 1838 in Paris,

- His main goal was to reestablish France as a
major power - He didnt want Prussia to have Saxony or for
Russia to have Poland - Had no objections to unity the Austrian
Netherlands - Wanted a disunited German Confederation
- Didnt like the idea of giving Prussia the land
along the Rhine - He supported restoring the thrones of Sardinia,
and Naples. - Thought Pope Pius the VII should be restored to
the Papal States
