Question Page
  • Why do owls sleep during the day?
  • Why do bears hibernate?
  • How many hours of sleep should humans get per
    night?

3
Research Process
  • First, I thought of a topic we all can relate
    to.
  • I came up with sleep, and sleep patterns of
animals and humans. I focused on a bird and
    mammals.
  • I researched my questions using google as a
    search engine.

4
Why do owls sleep during the day?
5
  • Owls are nocturnal. This means owls sleep during
the day and are awake at night
  • Owls sleep during the day because they spend
their nights awake hunting their prey.
  • Owls hunt at night because their prey cannot see
them coming. Owls are very quiet and cannot be
    easily heard by their prey.

6
Why do bears hibernate?
7
  • A bears survival depends on its hibernation
during the winter months. Hibernation is a
    dormant sleep-like state.
  • Bears hibernate because of the scarce amount of
food available during the colder months of
    winter.
  • Usually bears will choose a cave or a hollowed
    out tree to hibernate in.
  • Before hibernation, the bear will add onto its
body weight by accumulation fat. Bears can
accumulate up to 40 pounds of fat per week, which
it will live off for the following months

8
How many hours of sleep should humans get per
night?
9
  • The National Sleep Foundation states that adults
should get between seven and nine hours of sleep
    per day.
  • A child between the ages of 1 and 3 require
between ten and thirteen house of sleep per day.
  • As teens go through puberty, they need more
sleep. Because many teens take part in sports,
clubs, and after school activities, the majority
    of teenagers are sleep deprived.
