2- The project aims-
- To enable all students who had chosen GCSE and
Entry Level Physical Education to gain the
Junior Sports Leaders Award. (Cohort Boys 37,
Girls 28) - To enable all students in the cohort the
opportunity to be ready for accreditation in
Application of Number and Communication at Level
1 by March 2007. - Make progress towards ICT, Problem Solving,
Working With Others and Improving Own Learning
and Performance for final accreditation by June
2007. - To enable key members of staff to be trained in
the process that allows them to track and assess
key skill attainment.
3Mapping the Key Skill delivery into the Junior
Sports Leaders Award.
4The Project is underway with a visit and tour of
the Millennium Stadium
5Mr Rob Sidoli the Wales rugby star discusses his
experience of sport at the highest level.
6Presentation by Mr Gerry Toms (former Cardinal
Newman pupil) on the influence the Millennium
Stadium has made on the economics growth of the
capital city.
7- The present position regarding Key Skill
completion- - Communication and Problem Solving are close to
completion. - Improving Own Learning and Performance has been
started, this will run for the duration of the
project and conclude as the project finishes.
Working With Others has also been commenced. - Application of Number and ICT will be started in
January and February 2008 respectively. - Presently we are ahead of the planned completion
of the key skills. - The introduction of Key Skills into the JSLA
course has caused minimal disruption
predominantly due to the extensive mapping and
available documentation.

9- To Conclude
- Student numbers have increased from the
anticipated 50 to a present cohort of 65 pupils.
All of whom are following the Sports Leaders
Award and the six key skills. - A curriculum model has has been piloted which can
be available to other schools and colleges
developing the integration of Key Skills. - We at Cardinal Newman fully recognise the value
of key skills and their worth to each individual
in preparation for lifelong learning and the
world of work.
