  • It all started in 1946 when Meldal vocational
    school was established with two classes in
    mechanical engineering.
  • The schools name has been changed into Meldal
    upper secondary school for vocational courses and
    today there are approximately 310 students here.

Leadership
  • The schools principal gives the framework
    conditions and gives pedagogical guidelines for
    the pedagogical work and the teaching going on in
    the classrooms.
  • The team is led by a leader who must coordinate
    the teams work and is also in charge of
    initiating processes of development.
  • Each team is responsible for the teaching of
    their students and for evaluation of the work
    being done.
  • The principal asks for results and evaluates the
    teaching by having conversations with the form
    representative.

  • ON has information on possible apprenticeship
    positions in the region
  • ON helps the school to get in touch with the
    firms/businesses
  • ON has a seat in the schools board which
    programmes of education are to be offered?
  • there is a trade fair where students of secondary
    schools can get information on local businesses
    and work life and the possibilities for work in
    the future

  • MNO signs apprenticeship contracts
  • MNO follows up on the apprentices during the work
    period
  • MNO buying services from Meldal Upper Secondary
    School if a person lacks sufficient theoretical
    background for example

  • Prosjekt til fordypning (a subject in the
    different lines of study in which students can
    learn more about types of jobs they can get after
    schooling is over).
  • This means work practice/placement/visiting
    students.
    Written documentation of what
    has been done is very important
  • local firms contribute and share their skills and
    knowledge
  • local contractors doing work on the school
    premises draw the students into their work
  • there are mutual agreements between the school
    and the local contractors specific agreements
    are signed when one of the parts need work done
  • several of the schools teachers are external
    examiners at apprenticeship examinations
  • this help teachers keep themselves updated
