Solenoid Magnet Cryostat
  • Working concept based on 104.3 mm long solenoid
    magnet (100 mm coil length).
  • Single support post
  • heat load to 4 K lt 0.2 W.
  • Cryostat length
  • Vacuum vessel 180 mm.
  • Flange to flange (installed) 225 mm
  • HTS leads not yet integrated into design.

Helium line connections
  • Main helium line will use Conoseal flanges with
    metal seals (same style as in the Tevatron,
    different size)
  • Cooldown line and LN2 lines will be the same
    flanges as the 2? and LN2 in the Tevatron (metal
    seals).
  • Vacuum flange will be either a V-band style like
    the Tevatron or a ISO LF banded-clamp, both use
    o-rings.

Cavity-Solenoid Connection
  • Propose to use Helicoflex flanges and seals.
  • Low profile quick disconnect clamps.
  • Metal seals.
  • Able to incorporate bellows at each interconnect.
  • Fits in 40 mm of space in model but need to
    ensure real connection can be made in that amount
    of space.
  • Helicoflex flanges and seals are used at MTF for
    cold testing LHC IR Quadrupole magnets.
