What is it?

• A theory of consequences that influence behavior.
• Eliminates bad behavior and reinforces the good.

  some behaviors and avoid others.
• Its a matter of doing things because certain
  things will follow

• Consequences which give rewards and increase a
  behavior
• Consequences which give punish and a decrease a
  behavior

  behavior

Rules of the Road

• Face child and maintain eye contact
• Always allow the child to finish talking

• Label the behavior, not the child
• Help the child to talk positively
• Start statements with a rein-forcer

• Place responsibility on the child
