  • Check your schedule to see if you are able to
commit to working at the Book Fest. Check with
    your parents/guardians for conflicts and
    permission before you volunteer.

9
  • Go to http//classroom.springisd.org/webs/charlo/s
    tudent_volunteers_book_fest_.htm and read the
job descriptions and choose the jobs you would
prefer. The most popular jobs will go fast. Be
willing to take any job we assign you. We will
try to give you the job you ask for but might not
    be able to.

10
  • Obtain and complete Book Festival Volunteer
Application and the Student Emergency Contact
Form. You may either access these two forms from
    http//classroom.springisd.org/webs/charlo/student
_volunteers_book_fest_.htm or obtain a copy from
    your librarian.

11
  • When marking your preferences for jobs, rank them
in order 1, 2, 3 rather than checking the blanks.

12
  • We must be able to read your form. If you have
poor handwriting, please fill out the electronic
form. Sometimes we cannot read your numbers or
    differentiate between certain letters. The
    electronic form is preferred.

13
  • If you want your job preferences, please submit
your application forms early. Be sure to submit
    during the submission period.

14
  • Return both of your completed forms to your
librarian, or email an electronic copy of your
forms to Charlotte Ballard at charlotteb_at_springisd
.org as soon as you know you can commit to
    working.

15
  • Wait for an email response to your application or
for a phone call. Do not call Ms. Ballard. She
    will contact you first.

16
  • If you have questions, you must email Ms. Ballard
    at charlotteb_at_springisd.org.
  • Please wait patiently for a reply.

Verification Form and leave the forms at the
check-in station. Fill out the DSG Student
    Service Verification Form before arrival.

  • Sign in beside your name on the registration
    form.
  • After completing your job assignment, return to
the Student Volunteer Station, sign out, and
collect your signed DSG Student Service
    Verification Form.

21
  • Do not lose the DSG form. If anything goes wrong
with records on that day, you may not get credit
for working. The DSG form is your proof and your
    responsibility.
  • Signed Verification Forms are to be turned in to
your campus DSG coordinator. They have a
deadline for turning these in for credit. Read,
read, read their web site information so you
    dont lose your credit.

MISCELLANEOUS
  • You will receive one snack bag for volunteering.
If you work both days, you still only get one
    snack bag.
  • Food can be purchased at the Book Festival at the

  • We cannot watch your purses and belongings.
Leave them secured in your car trunk or keep them
    with you.

only), they may call the library at 281-891-7341

IMPORTANT
  • Ms. Richardson is in charge of the DSG program.
She is concerned about volunteers not showing up
    after committing to work.
  • Commitment to work is absolute. If you cannot
work, you must inform Ms. Ballard promptly.
  • If you cannot work that morning because you are
running fever, bleeding profusely, in the
hospital, dead, etc., then you must call Ms.
    Ballard immediately.
  • Ms. Richardson asks me to send her names of
no-shows. You might be removed from the DSG
program if you do not show up.

28
  • Be sure to get your DSG form completed and
stamped before you leave to get your credit for
    attending this meeting.
  • And again, thank you. We could not do this
    without your help.
