1. Introduction of my Chair
Engineering sciences combine basic and applied
research for innovations. It is characterized by
high interdisciplinary collaboration. Research in
Industrial Production Systems involves technical,
organizational and human aspects.

Project Steps
Applied research offers different solutions in
various environments E.g. Cultural differences
are the reason that European market conditions
and market strategies cannot be transferred to
China.
  • 1.Market analysis for detailed research demands
  • Analysis of critical success factors concerning
  • services in China
  • Segmentation of the Chinese service market
  • regarding Low Tec and High Tec
  • Future development of market strategies
  • 2. Concept development
  • Development of procedure models, methods and
    tools to develop and distribute
  • service processes
  • Procedure model to design network organizations
  • Integration of IT- and Communication Systems in
    service networks
  • 3. Expected results
  • Migration paths from manufacturer to producing
    service provider
  • Enabling of service export due to distribution
    of service processes
  • Development of a joint service platform to gap
    time differences and language barriers

Current state

Experiences
  • Collaboration
  • Problems arise from the different point of views
concerning the time horizon (strategic vs.
    operational point of view)
  • Chinese research projects mainly focus on short
    time results and technology-oriented solutions
  • Our Chinese project partners prefer to work on
the Bottom-up principle (the goal of project or
procedure models arise from the operational work)
  • Funding
  • 100 BMBF funding by the Federal Ministry of
Education and Research for three years
  • Partial funding from MOST and Industry in China
  • The funding of the Chinese Scientist is not
always guaranteed at the project start

Independent of this project there is still a
large industrial need for sound methods and tools
for service-based business models.

4. Future Priority Themes
China Worlds fastest growing market for mass
production
Europe World leadership in capital goods
  • Research fields with significant win-win
    potential
  • Designing and operating methods for global
    production networks
  • Minimizing costs and time to market risks by
extended use of digital products and factories
  • Connecting the digital and real world for a
    continuous optimization
  • Market development for high technology by new
    industrial services
  • Sustainable (Carbon dioxide less) production
    systems
